What combines Kate Bush, Faith No More's Evidence, Phil Collins, Jan Hammer, 2. Maanantai and contemporary R n' B music?
Our new track, that's what.
Of course you might not hear all those influences right off the bat. This month has really yet again proved two things:
a) A song can go through several quite dramatic fits of metamorphosis during the course of 1 month.
b) The influences a creator tries to convey can be pretty different than the ones a listener will invariably interpret.
What do you hear in this track?
We do have on piece of explanation to do. You may notice from the track that Riku ain't singing. For 13 months already we've been able to work pretty unhindered by any unforeseeable setbacks. This month however Riku managed to lose his voice in the latter half of the month, so we had to nudge his role down to "smoky-voiced ethereal pseudo-rapper" and let the ever-so-wonderful BÄÄBS do the singing. It was a pretty natural thing as we already made her Eurovision Song Contest entry last year and you can actually hear her on one previous Viola Music Club track as well. Try to guess which one!
Anyways, as always: please let us know what you think of this track! We love hearing from you how you think we're doing. I know there's a long way down from the mountains of metal, but we'll do our best to kick ourselves back into gear with plain-old Viola-stuff. Whatever that means...
lyrics
I'm waiting for you outside the window
of an old grey house at the edge of the world
where the sea will rage if you step out the door
so you keep it shut tight and just climb the walls
leave it all again
leave it all again
step right out into thin air
and leave it all again
leave it all again
leave it all again
something new waits for you there
leave it all again
if you close your eyes you'll feel the wind at your heels
slowly rising fresh cool breeze
that drifts into your house with whispers so sweet
"leave it all again, leave it all again please"
your daily bores and your nighttime scares
fixed points of view, routines that won't spare
the youth of your mind that's your own captive there
so leave it all again, leave it all again
what's outside the window
it's so hard to let go
of the world we built and leave it all again
what's outside the window
it's so hard to let go
of the world we built and leave it all again
leave it all again
leave it all again
step right out into thin air
leave it all again
leave it all again
something new waits for you there
leave it all again
leave it all again
step right out into thin air
leave it all again
leave it all again
leave behind only trails to nowhere
what's outside the window
it's so hard to let go
of the world we built and leave it all again
what's outside the window
it's so hard to let go
of the world we built and leave it all again
even when you're on the road or somewhere abroad
you still peek through the same window
leave it all again
what's outside the window
it's so hard to let go
of the world we built and leave it all again
what's outside the window
it's so hard to let go
of the world we built and leave it all again
leave it all again
believe it all again
learn to play in a new way
leave it all again
believe it all again
our little world is made of clay
